Keep calm, we won!
Nottingham Arena win the first Notts Grand Prix of the 2013/14 season, taking the honours on points difference in a nail-biting finish against Casualties.

Team Arena narrowly missed a clean sweep, winning all but one of their 6 matches, with an injury to foreign import outside hitter Steven G coming at a crucial point in the crunch match against Casualties.  The City Council road mending team will be out first thing on Monday morning to fix the pot-hole he made with his knee on an extreme pickup!  Ashfield kindly lent one their players so that the match could be finished with 6 players on court.  Despite a brave effort all round, this proved to be the turning point, allowing Casualties to edge the game 18-16 when the final whistle went.

Big wins in earlier matches thanks to Steven's outside hitting, strong middle hitting from foreign imports Steve T and Anna M gave Arena the crucial extra points that saw them win this month's Grand Prix.

Another foreign import, Simon, all the way from the Republic of Binghamistan produced some fine middle hitting and back-court passing that helped the highly experienced yet new setting partnership of Chris and Luke look like they knew what they were doing (Well, the one with the hangover at least!  The other one looked good anyway!).  Arena's confidence took hold throughout the afternoon, and a sense of adventure in the last two games of the tournament even saw penetration setting and three attackers.  Will they go for shorts next time round?

An excellent start to the season for Team Arena in their first competitive match.
